Come Alive

Sometimes I think it's sad to see how fast we rush through life. Every day is a constant stream of motion and activity, but are we really accomplishing much at all?

I feel as though our society is rushing us along at a pace that encourages one to be shallow or fake. There is not enough time to stop, pause, and really consider our dreams, goals, hopes, wishes, and future. People are just plodding along, day after day. And with influences like social media, it has become even easier to be immersed in profile pictures and tweets and likes and status updates. I think that many people become lost in the sea of activity.

In my own life, I find it amazing to see how packed my own schedule is: school, extracurricular activities, sports, homework, studying. (Disclaimer: I am not saying school isn't important. education is vital) And the question I've finally come to is, have we lost sight of what's really important? What will we remember in twenty years: a sports activity or being with family?

I also think it is interesting to see the number of people around me in school who have lost sight of the future. They have no goals, no ambition. I think it is important to find what you are passionate about. In a classroom at my school there's a quote I love, and it goes like this:

\"Don't ask what the world needs. Instead, find what makes you come alive, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.\"

So I'm going to try my best to see what's important in life, set my goals and dreams, and come alive.
