Urgent assistance needed to facilitate Ugandan child rights activist present a paper in Canada

Dear colleagues,

I am a Ugandan volunteer child rights activist and freelance scribe who has been invited to present my paper on the Topic: VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN IN UGANDA at a Conference organized by the Association for Research on Mothering in York University , Toronto , Canada , 23-26 October, 2008. (See Conference website: www.yorku.ca/arm)I am the main presenter and author of this paper. I will co-present it with a woman MP on the Parliamentary Gender and Social Development committee.

I have been offered free accommodation by the Conference Organizers at a Hotel adjacent to York University . See attached copy. Besides, I have just returned from Australia where I presented a paper on the topic: “Child labour, a threat to the future skilled manpower in Uganda ” at an International Conference on Child labour and Child Exploitation in August 2008. Please find this paper on the conference website: www.childjustice.org/wsecl/html/papers.htm I have previously presented papers in Belgium (2006) and Azerbaijan (2008) and attended a Child Rights in Practice training organized by the International Institute for Child Rights and Development at the University of Victoria in Canada last year.

May I kindly request for your assistance in raising funds for my air ticket to facilitate my participation at this important conference. The British Airways Corporation in Kampala has promised me a discounted ticket offer at 1,887 US$ on humanitarian grounds. I have also contacted KLM Airlines in Uganda who gave me a tentative flight booking but they promised to give me a discounted rate.See KLM flight booking below.

May i suggest that at least 19 people send me at least 100 US $ each to me using western union money transfer or moneygram money transfer so that i raise that mony urgently so that i be able to purchase the ticket from British Airways or KLM air ways in their Kampala office. So far 2 people have offered 100 $ and 50 US$ respectively from pulse wire. After sending it via western union or money gram, immediately text the password on my cellphone number +256 751 548255 so that i withdraw the money immediately because i must travel on tuesday the 21st October 2008. inform your partners to help.

Alternatively, one individual philanthropist or philanthropic organization can purchace the e-ticket online. She or He should indicate my departure date as 21st October 2008and return date around 30th December 2008 and send it to me via my email See my contact details below.

I will be grateful when this request meets your benevolence.

Yours truly,
