What is "it" for you?

With the overall state of the world seeming to be more and more depressing and scary, I find myself sometimes mired down with sadness, horror, guilt and uncertainty. However, I like to be an optimist whenever I can summon it up and I try to find an uplifting joy in everyday things. I find that each day something different does "it" for me. It may be an unexpected cool breeze on a hot day or a ray of warming sunshine on a cold, bitter afternoon. Oftentimes, I find "it" in a piece of music - the song or artist changes from day to day. It could be a well-known classical piece or a fun, African song from one of my son's Putumayo CD's or a new pop song that grabs my attention and gets my body moving . Every once in awhile "it's" a cup of hot tea in a moment of treasured solitude. I find "it" in the giggles of my son and in the hearty guffaws of uncontrollable laughter with a friend. A beautiful tree or flower will always lift my spirits and make me pause.

So my friends, I wonder what does "it" for you? If you are in the depths of hell or even if you are just having a rotten day – where do you find a moment, a glimpse, a breath of joy?
