DESCRIPTION

Indicorps, an innovative nonprofit based in India, offers Fellowships for people of Indian origin to implement sustainable grassroots development projects with community-based organizations. As an intense, total-immersion leadership program, Indicorps encourages individuals to explore their role as a catalyst for change.

27 new projects have been announced for the Indicorps 2011 Fellowship. Fellows will tackle real challenges in education, microfinance, public health, women’s empowerment, environment, and more all across India from Bihar to Gujarat and Tamil Nadu to Uttarakhand.

Since its creation in 2002 by siblings Sonal, Roopal, and Anand Shah, approximately 150 young Indians from around the globe with impeccable credentials (everything from a physics PhD to a filmmaker) have participated in the Indicorps Fellowship. Indicorps alumni have gone on to serve as leaders and innovators in a wide range of fields including international development, social entrepreneurship, media, engineering, law, health, film, journalism, science and more.

REQUIREMENTS

Indicorps is looking for passionate changemakers who are willing to live simply and who are committed to public service and personal growth. Applicants must be of Indian origin (by the definition of the Government of India) or Indian citizens and have, at minimum, a university degree or five years equivalent work experience. Individuals are required to apply specifically to projects of their interest. The program requires a minimum commitment of one year.
