lets practise what we preach as we walk the talk

I draw inspiration from a saying: be the change you want to see in the world. It fits quite well with my personal vision, which is to create positive change and advocate for equality though speaking out. I believe that we are here on the planet Earth to live, grow up and do what we can to make this world a better place for all people to enjoy freedom.
I believe that I have the power within me to achieve my goal to work and advocate for the rights of the marginalized. It is my vision to use every opportunity I get to speak out against subjugation of women, ostracizing of sexual minorities and discrimination of the disabled and the poor.

As the adage goes the power of the pen is mightier than the sword, it is my hope that through writing I can push for transformation, changing of people’s attitudes and spread the gospel of love, acceptance and tolerance.
It’s one thing speaking about things and then nichodemously doing the exact thing that we are advocating against, I hope to live the word that I advocate for and fight oppression to the last end through non violent means.
I want to accept myself, love myself before spreading the love because it all begins with me.

In my community my vision is to spearhead the championing of human rights and advocating for equality of all human beings. Whilst it is true that we are not a homogenous group since we all come from different backgrounds, we are all human at the end of the day. I hope to use my skills and talent to create a safe place for everyone. To live in a community where everyone cares for each other, protects and guards each other jealously and not hold on to cultures or beliefs that are detrimental to the lives of other people. A community in which they are no minorities or marginalsied people. Everyone’s potential is realised to the full, work together regardless of our differences to achieve unity of purpose. I also strive to live in a community, which is not divided along racial or political lines. Respect and recognition of human rights without being selective.

It is my vision to live in a world in which the ‘majority’ do not make decision on behalf of the ‘so-called minority. A world in which no one has to beg for recognition and ask for their rights because human rights are inalienable. A world where the rich do not make decisions for the poor, men on behalf of women, heterosexuals deciding for homosexuals, the able bodied drafting policies for the disabled. Everyone should be given the opportunity to speak for themselves.

Hordes of cosmetic human rights instruments have been signed yet they are ‘loud sounding nothing’, mere documents meant to hoodwink the masses into believing that we live in a democratic world. People walk the talk the talk practice what they preach.

For a long time now women have been treated as second-class citizens. And are not taken seriously when it comes to making important decisions. I hope to see the chains of patriarchy which entangle women being broken by women and even men as willing partners in the process without using violent means .

It is my vision to see women take up leadership roles , even at world conferences , summits and different fora .
