Introducing myself and my journal: A Voice for Handicapped Women in DR Congo

About Me:
I live and work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I am founder and Coordinator of a NGO called ACOLDEMHA that was organized to give women and especially handicapped women a place to come be heard, and to give voice to the issues they face in their daily lives. We deal with many women who have suffered extreme violence against their persons, and work to assist them in getting medical and psychological treatment, as well as work to get their reports filed, investigated, and prosecuted. As well, we work to promote Women's Rights and Rights for Persons with Disabilities in our area. For example, I do a weekly radio program in Bukavu to sensitize people to the plight of persons with disabilities, and am involved in many organizations, and lead forums regarding the same. I myself am handicapped, having contracted Polio at the age of 2 years.

My Passions:
To lift the disabled and be a voice of that community

My Challenges:
The way the world views the disabled

My Vision for the Future:
For my passion to be realized

My Areas of Expertise:
Promoter, Coordinator, Facilitator
