Introducing myself and my journal: Rustico Beach, 1916

About Me:
I was induced to join this site by reading Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, a book by journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. It illustrates the horrific and common practices of honor killings, rape, sex trafficking and forced prostitution throughout the globe. I highly recommend it.

I'm very young, and I guess I just want to stop merely reading about things and start actively \"being the change I wish to see in the world,\" to paraphrase a great man. My dream is to become a community organizer. I live in a rural town in Southern America, and opportunities to do meaningful things are sometimes hard to come by. But that's no excuse! I can't stand by any longer and just feel satisfied that I WANT things to be different. A man, or woman, is defined by her actions!

My Passions:
people, dirt, and art

My Vision for the Future:
a life of dignity for everyone.
