Introducing myself and my journal: Motivated/Inspired

About Me:
My name is Victoria but my fellow colleagues call me Vikki. I am a Principal of the oldest girls boarding school in Uganda. The school has a population of 1050 students. I have taaught in various schools since I graduated in 1982. My teaching subjects are English Language/ Literature in English and General Knowledge. I have a Bacheloer of Arts Degree; a Diploma in Education(Makereree University) and A Masters in Science;Education for Sustainability( London South Bank University). I am passionate about the all round education for the girl child. I lost my husband 15 years ago and had to raise my children single handedly. The experience I passed through has greatly given me great inspiration to inspire others. Professionally, teaching;mentoring;inspiring the girl child has enriched me more. My greatest pride is in enabling the girl child to stay in school without chasing her away from school because of lack of school fees. We do what it takes to raise fees for the girl child in my school to enable them complete secondary education! For the past 3 years I have not sent home any girl child for lack of school fees. Through the co-curricular activities, we arm the girls with both the techincal and people skills they need to navigate their way not only in Tertiary Institutions but also thereafter. We recongnise the fact that a learner needs critical thinking skills, creativity and confidentiality to be able to confidently navigate her way in a competitive and turbulent world!

My Passions:
I am a voracios reader, I love sharing andlearning from others.

My Challenges:
Staying alive to mother my children.Professionally to remain a relevant role model for the learners.

My Vision for the Future:
Personally, to construct a home for my children;professionally to have a product of girls who can bring change in their community.

My Areas of Expertise:
Life Skills;English Language Teaching;Mobilising Youth for Voluntary work in Community.
