Everybody has something to give to others in their community. We have all here because someone else made a sacrifice for us. That is the spirit that I want to volunteer my time and effort. It might be tempting to think that we may not be good enough, clever enough, connected enough or resourceful enough. But, the truth is that by working with what we have we can make changes in our communities.
Having worked with young women with disabilities by training them to become HIV&AIDS peer educators; I have seen changes in terms of self-determination,
self esteem and the realization that disability is not inability. Young women with disabilities can make a big difference in their communities.
