Enlightened Power

"Eventually, the spotlight will not be on a leader just because she is a woman. But while the spotlight is on us, let's use its power—inclusively—to illuminate the great needs that still exist for women and children in America and the world." - Pat Mitchell, President and CEO of The Museum of Television & Radio

In Partnership with World Pulse

The Enlightened Power Project recognizes World Pulse Media as a strong partner dedicated to women's empowerment around the globe and we have joined together as a clearinghouse for this new inclusive leadership movement.

About the Enlightened Power Project

The Enlightened Power Project is an extension of the book: Enlightened Power: How Women are Transforming Leadership, designed to internalize and manifest Enlightened Power principles to women around the world. It is a larger, collective movement to become part of the business and leadership language that recasts the traditional ideas of "command and control leadership by a few" to a more inclusive model, a model of power within rather power over, that dignifies women, honors differences and rewards true collaboration across gender and discipline.

Mission of The Enlightened Power Project
  • To magnify & legitimize women's leadership of self, organization, and society through global coaching & matching programs, leadership training and experiential retreats.
  • To create and support social entrepreneurship that manifests economic, health, political and societal sustainability.
What is Enlightened Power and Its Core Principles?
  • An internally generated power where a leader fuses purpose and passion to create impact in their organization, society and the global community.
  • A collaborative form of power where a leader builds inclusion, challenges bias and the status quo, fosters trust and honors diverse perspectives.
  • A collective movement where women generate economic wealth creation for the advancement of socially responsible business for global impact.
Enlightened Power is NOT
  • About moral superiority.
It is about a willingness to be conscious of how we can have a positive or negative impact on others.
  • About women's superiority.
It is about partnership and equality between women and men. Because women have often been marginalized in positional power roles, they bring essential perspectives and practices to leadership.
  • About control, dominance, perfection or workaholism.
It is about the integration of our inner and outer well being.

The Enlightened Power Movement

Women, in ever greater numbers, are leading the way to challenging the status quo and demanding a more inclusive, enlightened approach to the use of power. In fact, men and women alike—representing a synthesis and symphony of many voices—share the belief that thriving, wealth-producing organizations and societies are ones that promote the full and equal partnership of men and women leaders.

Today the "woman's leadership factor" has been identified as an understated but prominent marker of the most successful corporate, non-profit, government and emerging privately-held organizations. (Linkage, Inc.)

The Enlightened Power community is committed to achieving a powerful sense of belonging. We are an impassioned, liberated, life-loving network of leaders who are making a difference.

Together, we are coaxing a shift from a hierarchical privilege for a few to an inclusive movement of empowerment of all.

Loung Ung

Author of First They Killed My Father and Lucky Child

Luong Ung is a survivor of the killing fields of Cambodia, one of the bloodiest episodes of the twentieth century. Her deeply moving story from war victim, child soldier, refugee to passionate advocate for a world free of landmines birthed a national best seller and highly acclaimed memoir, First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers. The World Economic Forum selected her as one of the "100 Global Youth Leaders of Tomorrow." Loung is a featured and highly sought after speaker on Cambodia, child soldiers, women and war, domestic violence, and landmines.

"On November 24, the day after Thanksgiving, the front page story in my hometown paper was of people who stood in lines for hours to buy 'stuff' and getting into fist fights over them. As I read the article—my heart sank. What kind of examples are they setting for their children? And wouldn't it be wonderful if these same people take some of that zeal and bring their children to wait in line at a shelter, a food bank, a literacy program, and show them the importance of giving, sharing, to be of service, to help, and be someone's examples of the best of man's humanity to man? That is my wish for this holiday season and into the new year." Loung Ung

We invite you to join Luong in modeling enlightened power principles in action by supporting the organizations she respects and endorses.
