The new Voyages Bulletin

Fall releases are on their way and our bookshelf is brimming over with hot new books and music from artists across the globe. We had to find a way to surpass our constricting magazine page space and tell you about them! We've combined our handpicked books and music reviews into one seasonal (quarterly) e-dispatch. We don't want to overwhelm your in-boxes, so this is an opt-in bulletin.

Discover new leading voices of our time. Visit our site today to check it out and sign up for our e-bulletin.

The 13 Indigenous Grandmothers to collaborate with World Pulse

Working with the indigenous grandmothers profiled in our last issue, "Global Healing" has been one of our most profound experiences to date. Today we are delighted to announce the creation of a new regular column, "Grandmother," which will debut in our next printed issue, "Oracle." The 13 Grandmothers will each take turns expressing what they want to share with the world. In addition, they will invite other grandmothers with important messages to write for us. We are honored to participate in ensuring that we hear not only our youth, but also our grandmothers.

Zap Mama Joins World Pulse

Zap Mama
"Marie Daulne and Zap Mama make music that sounds like a one woman multicultural movement, melding African percussion, American soul and European urbanity."
-Time Magazine

There may be no other musical group that expresses the spirit of World Pulse more than Zap Mama. We are thrilled to join up with Zap Mama www.zapmama.be on their US "Woman" tour. The goal of the tour "is to increase awareness of global women's health issues and support for women living with fistula." We are dancing with pride to partner with Zap Mama on their mission. You can purchase copies of World Pulse at all their stops - with a portion of the proceeds donated to ending fistula worldwide.

World Pulse Update

A Media Evolution

World Pulse Magazine

Wow! World Pulse is flying off the shelves. Our latest newsstand figures show 70-90% sell-through in many regions (30% is considered good for new publications). We are also being inundated with responses from readers who have been moved and stirred to action and partnership with the real voices in our pages.

As a result we are taking our work bigger. We are evolving into an editorial vessel that listens to the voices and visions of women and youth globally and partners with multi-media channels (print, web, radio, video) to broadcast these voices as widely as possible. We'll keep you posted on all our developments as we prepare for this next step. Thank you for your patience as we grow to become a much more powerful force for the human potential of women and youth across the globe.

What does this mean for you?

If you're a subscriber, don't worry, in time you'll still get all your copies of World Pulse! Plus you'll receive e-mail newsletters to keep you plugged into the pulse, and an expanded website with new global stories and perspectives! Look for the big debut of "Oracle" near International Women's Day, and the debut of our new website next month.

In the meantime, if you have questions about your subscription please contact devdiva@worldpulsemagazine.com

Conference Pick

Second World Matriarchy Congress: Societies of Peace
September 29-October 2, 2005
San Marcos, Texas

Second World Matriarchy Congress

With an outstanding line-up of global speakers, this congress will present and publicize a clear and accurate view on matriarchal societies, with a focus on indigenous perspectives. Matriarchal societies still exist in various areas of the world and have had a long and interesting history. Contrary to the common view, which sees matriarchies as "women's rule," these societies have real gender-egalitarian, consensus-based and peaceful traditions. The example of these societies can inspire us to find better social and cultural models for the solution of many contemporary problems.

World Pulse will cover this conference. If you can't make it, watch for the conference report on our website!
