In exciting news we have made an announcement today to our community to introduce you. The VOF Team and I have created very short bios and selected quotes from your work in an effort to show the world your unique voice and passion. This was very difficult to do in 75 words each!! Also, I wanted to say a word about your upcoming assignment. The Frontline Journal is by far my favorite format for a story. I'm jumping up and down to read yours. So many people in the world have no idea what it is like in your country or what it would be like to stand in your shoes. This is your chance to show the importance of the urgent issues and situation in your community, nation or region THROUGH YOUR EYES. Imagine if you were having tea with someone who lives half a world away and you are describing to them what your life and country is like, what is important to you, what you have seen, and what you think is the way forward. You may not have riots in your street or gunfire --- but even a new law, a shop closing down, a local controversy or something that happened to your neighbor or family member -- this is breaking news in your life. You get to define breaking news. Paint a picture using the most vivid details you can -- so that the world can step in your shoes and understand the issues surrounding you.

In this sentence of my bio I am not comfortable with the widowed or childless part. I think I haven't either seen much or worked for them either, So think it to be unfair.
How about this.

I emailed Jennifer and Janice with my changes but I'll add them here too, I wasn't sure who to reply to!!
On my bio, which is amazing by the way!! - it reads "she says she is guided by the spirit of Camelot." I didn't actually say that, but I did use Camelot as a metaphor in one of my assignments. Perhaps that line could be changed slightly to read something like. "Inspired by the spirit of Camelot or inspired by the unifying spirit of Camelot..."

Hi Jensine,
Thanks for the nice page. I do not feel very comfortable with the the line 'As a single mother with two small children she sold cakes and typed to put herself through night college', because it is not very accurate.
Would you change it for:
'Raising two children by herself after divorce, she decided that life would not defeat her and studied night college, paying for it by working as a translator and secretary, as well as building up her first economic initiative to provide pastry to restaurants, and employing three other women in her same situation'

It is good. However, please remove:

This is a long term plan.So let's leave it out.
...since rape began to spike in Kenya seven years ago. Please remove seven years ago. This is because Rape started catching the eyes of journalists then. So, the period has seen rape and abuse reported more than before. Not necessarily an increase in the vice.
Also, when i was younger, I sang in church concerts, not a band. Today, I am part of a band.
Maybe you can also add that I am the first child of 5 siblings.

How does this sound?
As the first child of five siblings Stella sang praises in her Kenyan church. Today, she is just as passionate about lifting women out of destitute situations as she is about music, hoping one day to record an album about the women of Africa. Since media brought rape and sexual violence to the forefront of public awareness in Kenya seven years ago, Stella has devoted her life to encouraging women who have suffered abuse to speak out and reclaim their lives.
I left the second line in, but softened it. What do you think?

The People I work with who are HIV face discrimination. It should read, I work with HIV postive people who are faced with stigma and discriminition.
