Ideas for a Future Podcast on Microfinance
So Lynn McMullen and I chatted today and we thought it would be neat to start planning for a series of podcast interviews of women thought leaders in microfinance. So I'd like to ask the community to submit two things:
1. Names of women who you think would like to talk about their models in microfinance
2. Questions you'd like to ask them about their models of microfinance
Here are some names and ideas:
a. Rashani Zafar from Kashf in Pakistan, http://www.kashf.org/
b. Ingrid Monroe, from Jamaii Bora, http://www.jamiibora.org/
c. Chingwell (a member of our PW community), First Step Initiative out of the Congo, http://www.firststepinitiative.org
d. Marcia Odell who works with Pact International and help found their Women's Empowerment Program (WEP) based on literacy and savings in Nepal. http://www.microcreditsummit.org/press/PACT.htm
With the women above we'll cover village banking based on savings programs to the traditional loan programs based on peer pressure.
Other ideas are welcome.
Best,
Cynthia

Love this idea
Hey Cynthia-
Love this idea. I would listen to any and every podcast you came up with about microfinance. I don't know much about it, but from the little I've heard it seems to have a lot of potential for widespread change. Can't wait for you to post more info!
classes or training programs in Microfinance
I am very interested in Microfinance and would love to learn more. I was wondering if anyone knew of any courses offered on the topic of microfinance. Also, what general foundation would be good to have for a career in microfinance?
I recently learned of the organization, Women in Microfinance (www.wam-international.org). What other trade associations exist?
I look forward to your podcasts and I would love to learn more about this exciting area.
Thanks,
Genice
Has there been any movement?
This is such a great idea. Has there been any movement? I believe we have microfinance as a future emagazine theme. What a great tie-in if we can get the conversation started.
