Online Marketing Volunteer

Do you have an account on MySpace, Facebook, AND Twitter? Do you enjoy reading magazines like Inc., WIRED, Fast Company, Ms., YES!, or the Economist? Do you consider yourself an engaged global citizen or a media activist? If you said yes to any of these, read on!
World Pulse is a media organization that covers global issues through the eyes of women. I am looking for a Web 2.0 savvy volunteer who knows her/his way around cyberspace and is familiar with the newest internet trends that build social movements. We're looking for an online marketing interns to help us generate buzz in communities that pertain to women's empowerment. Ideally, you're experienced using Web 2.0 sites, you're driven to learn and experience a start-up, you have a strong work ethic mixed with social activism, and constantly think of new ways to use the internet to get the word out and track your progress.
Qualifications
We're looking for the following sort of experience:
- Basic knowledgeable about Search Engine Optimization tactics
- Proficient use of the internet to get what you need-- resourceful
- Adept at blogging and posting new information on MySpace, Facebook, etc. profiles
- Basic knowledge of marketing and concepts behind online social networking and/or social media
- Experience using Google Analytics, Google Docs, and survey apps like Zoomerang, Survey Monkey or Constant Contact is ideal but not required.
Responsibilities
You will report to me, VP of Partnerships & Strategy, and assist me with monitoring and tracking World Pulse's online marketing efforts. Responsibilities will include:
- Monitor World Pulse Partners websites and newsletters to track their promotion of our content, brand and programs
- Keep World Pulse online profiles fresh and current with our editorial and programs (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Divine Caroline, World of Good)
- Reading Google Analytics reports to be able to see and report on your online marketing efforts
- Two page Executive Summary on Search Engine Optimization with recommendations about how to optimize the World Pulse website.
- Implement at least one survey using Constant Contact.
Please note that while this position is unpaid, I hope you see this as a mentorship opportunity for you. You will come out of this being more grounded in marketing theory and implementation. You will also be able to say that you had a hand in shaping the marketing strategy of an organization poised for growth, and quantifiable results you created to add to your resume.
