Offer: World Bank's Development Marketplace's Innovation Competition in China

China's Development Marketplace Application period: Nov 8, 2007 - Dec 30, 2007 Event: June 2008

China's second Development Marketplace (DM) competition aims to serve as a platform for local civil society organizations, businesses, individuals and foundations to identify and support innovative bottom-up development ideas.

While at each level competitions have specific characteristics, as outlined below, all loosely follow the same structure:

- A call for proposals is open;
- Applications undergo rigorous scrutiny by development experts from inside and outside the World Bank who select finalists;
- Finalists are brought together at the Marketplace to present their ideas to the public and participate in networking and knowledge sharing events; and
- A jury comprised of seasoned development professionals from inside and outside the World Bank interviews the finalists during the Marketplace and then selects the projects for DM funding. The winners are announced at the close of the Marketplace.
