I am a freelance journalist based in Indian administered Kashmir. A Postgraduate in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Kashmir, I contribute to the Women International News Gathering Service, Canada (www.wings.org), The Women’s International Perspective, Inc. (The WIP) Monterey, California (www.thewip.net) and Kashmir Newz (www.kashmirnewz.com) a Srinagar based online news content provider. I have also worked with various local English dailies in Srinagar. I have been awarded Sanjay Ghose Media Fellowship: 2008-09 for women journalists in J&K.
I am interested in covering issues, which have gone unreported or have got less coverage in the media. I want to travel a lot and write about what I see.
I love writing and want to make a difference by that.
