When the ninth annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) commenced last week in Istanbul, Turkey, World Pulse was there to bring your voices and solutions to the table. We’ve been working hard to synthesize the nearly 600 submissions we received from community members in over 70 countries. We are using this crowdsourced data to generate a conversation with key stakeholders on how women’s digital inclusion can be accelerated and prioritized to digitally empower women around the world. Drawing from hundreds of testimonials collected during the WWW: Women Weave the Web Campaign, World Pulse Digital Action Campaigns Manager, Leana Mayzlina, and community member Iffat Rose Gill, presented recommendations on women’s digital inclusion and empowerment in two sessions at IGF. The forum hosted more than 2,500 participants representing governments, inter-governmental organizations, the private sector, technical community and civil society to examine cross-border Internet governance. The World Pulse session has generated a discussion with key technology companies, international organizations, and governments on how to improve efforts to support women’s full engagement in the information society and transform their recommendations into actionable plans and policies. And this global conversation is just getting started!
