My digital action campaign is titled #WIFI - Women Inspire for Inclusion. The goal of the campaign is to build a community of women who share similar experiences as a mothers or spouses of persons with disabilities. I am targeting to engage about 100 women on the platform by July 2016 from across Africa. This will offer these women the opportunity to share their experiences and inspire each other thereby strengthening their voices towards disability advocacy. When the campaign becomes successful women who are related to persons with disabilities as mothers or spouses will have a source of strength, mentorship and a platform to amplify their voices on disability rights advocacy.

In reaching my goal I will launch the campaign during the event tagged “Strengthening family support for disability advocacy” holing in May in commemoration of international family day. I will pitch the group to disabled persons organizations in Africa. I will also promote the group through my personal facebook page, my organization’s page which will be sponsored on facebook, world pulse posts and personal referrals

My audience for this campaign is primarily women we are related to persons with disabilities as mothers or wives. Secondarily persons with disability as an audience will provide relevant advice to these women when clarifications are needed. Thirdly, other members of the society will receive more information on disability based on the experienced shared and advocacy messages transmitted.

I anticipate that #WIFI campaign will help the women guide/mentor each other gain strength to become bold and challenge discriminatory practices. The platform will also inspire the women to conduct disability awareness outreaches.

Kudos to you, Emmanuella! There's such power in peer mentoring, and I admire you for seeing this opportunity to catalyze real understanding of what it means to live with a disability - and of the enormous diversity of experiences that term encompasses. Please let us know when this campaign launches!

Dear Emmanuella,

This campaign sounds powerful, i like the idea of bringing awareness to people living with disabilities and giving them a voice and opening the digital world for them.

Hi Emmanuella,

Your campaign goals are very clear and well articulated. It's great that you are bringing together a community of support, and one that usually doesn't get a lot of attention. I am sure that your first-hand experience will be very valuable to the other women you will work with.

I am curious to learn about how the women will interact with each other on the platform. Will they have live meetings, or mostly interact through sharing stories and comments to each other? What types of actions do you envision these women taking to support each other? Will you compile their stories to share beyond these 100 women as well, to raise awareness or to be available to other women around the world who are also mothers or partners of persons with disabilities?

I really look forward to seeing your complete digital action campaign, and learning more about what you are planning!

Best,

Stephanie
