MindtheGAP is a Digital Action Campaign .

Goals:

  • To create awareness on the enormous opportunities in the Agricultural sector for young women graduates.
  • To petition the government of the republic of Ghana on the huge gap in the sector and the need to support and encourage young women already in it or want to go into it.

The problem mind the gap seeks to solve in the long run with this campaign is Graduate unemployment and Food Insecurity. This is a Global security threat.

According to the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research, 50% of graduates may wait up to three years without finding jobs in Ghana. During this period the security of the nation is at stake.

On the other hand,Ghana,a country with rich and fertile soil and comparably favourable climate, imports almost all daily agricultural consumables from countries with virtually desert conditions.

What will be the greatest change if young women are empowered to produce healthy foods for the country and create wealth and jobs for themselves?

The Need

Food is basic need for every single individual living on this planet. Even the sectors rated as most important still rely on the Agricultural sector. If you are sick,you need to food eat (health sector), if you are hungry,how can you study(education sector).

This Food can only be from the Agricultural sector so there is a compelling need for the major stakeholders to make the sector attractive for young women who have the guts to challenge the status quo by going into this sector to create jobs and wealth and grow healthy foods.

We need to produce at least 50% more food than we are currently producing to be able to feed the world's population on track to 9 billion in 2050. There is the need to mind this gap.

There is a need for graduates to take their destinies into their own hands by creating wealth and jobs for themselves.

Civil society and the NGOs

Developing Partners ( USAID,DFID,UNDP etc)

International Communities

Academic Institutions

Media

Opinion leaders (chiefs,queens,District and Municipal executives etc)

Actions by audience

Sharing (reposting) of information on their social media platforms

Ambassadors who will ignite and inspire change

Government to make favourable policies for young women Agripreneurs

Actively join the discussion on all social media platforms

Hi Nana,

Your goals for your campaign are very clear, and definitely seem achievable through a digital action campaign. Have you already created a petition that you will send to the government, or is this something you will create as part of your campaign? You have identified a wide audience who should be able to support your campaign. I am interested to learn about what actions you would like each of these audiences to take. Will you only be having women from your organization share your story, or will you be asking for stories from female farmers from around the world that show the value of agricultural careers? I am also interested to learn how you will use World Pulse in your campaign as well. I am excited to see your final proposal!

Dear Nana,

youth employment is definitely an important topic. 

Are you going to reach all the people listed in your audience directly or some of them are indirect participants, like in a ripple effect?  

How long are you planning that the campaign will last and what could be our role as your WP friends?

Hi again Nana, another excellent post :) You lay everything out in a very clear and compelling way. I love how you pose the question about what the biggest change could be if young women were able to make their own food and create their own jobs. I may have said this before but I love the name of your campaign - Mind the Gap is very catchy. You also lay out useful facts in a good fashion.
