Born Unaware but conscious

When I was born, I was not aware. I became conscious, got to know that I was born from a woman who is known to me as my mother. Wow, what a life! Then I grew up, began to learn from mothers gave birth to babies and how dear the newly born are to their mothers. Though they go through a lot of pain during labor, the pain vanishes as soon as the newly born is shown and put on the bosom of the mother. Mothers without you, the world could not be populated, and all social systems could not be sustained.

As we enter the Girl awareness week, we look upon you the Girl child to be the future mothers who will take over childbearing from the aged. The reason, I adhere to the advice I got from my mother to take care of my sisters and all other girls in our community and treat them us mothers.

We in ACRO Ghana take every girl as a mother and support them with all resources available. Our Menstrual Hygiene Management is an example that, no Girl should absent herself from school because of Menstruation.

Now in Ghana many are not able to go through the rigid requirements of opening a Bank account, they rely on Mobile money account which is operated on phone. So at least many of the young adult Girls have phones and we take the opportunity to lead them to another level in the Digital world.

The only challenge we have is the network connectivity and data to learn. If we get support letter to apply for funding published here, we could quickly solve the problem and probably get them Laptops to teach “ten finger” typing and move on to the MS Office package.

In the meantime, we stay with our Girl sports (football) whilst encouraging parents not to use Girls as house helps and to allow them to play and have fun during their free times.

Girl Child, you are the Agent to the future, one of the many reasons you have my support no matter what it takes. We love you all, we pray you grow well to take your full responsibilities as the world most important being for pro-creation.
