The Cry of a Woman VOF Assignment Week 2

Oh my God, if you could take a minute to review the profile of some women here on earth, then you will be doing them some good. Because they have sat down to take an account of their stay here on earth and honestly, they will tell you, you’ve not being fair and they deserve a better world.

First out of five, I was groomed up by a dynamic but poor widow who believed in giving her children the best. I became venerable and open to so much violence and pain when I lost my dad at the age of six in a motorcycle accident. All our properties were seized by our uncles and we were abandoned because our mum refused to give them our house which was our last hope. I grew up with mixed feelings and was determined to change my world. But I was again faced by this monster of violence characterized by physical, financial, Psychological and emotional trauma. I was beating on a daily bases, tortured Psychological and emotional because I couldn’t contribute to the growth of my home. My husband was 18 years older than I. I got married early because I had to support my mum and her four children.
In the search of solutions to my problems, I met many other women in the same situation and some have miserable accepted their faith but I have refused to see with the fact that African men have the right to torture their women without punishment. I’m one of the founders of a young community based association made up of women living with pain and victims of gender based violence which has strengthened and given more women hope.

However I decided to pursuit my education despite all the huddles and I obtained a degree and two diplomas in Education. I also began visiting the cyber cafes often to learn about the computer and how it operates. Access to education and Information communication technology for women still remains a great challenge with the result that it deprives them of information and economic independence.

I’m limited to more information because I can’t have access to the computer all the time. I have read many articles on women issues and I’m regularly online because the café is a stone throw from my house and has fast internet connections. This has changed my destiny and has brought me closer to so many women leaders in the world and World Pulse where I have found myself today.

I have been so passionate with issues of gender based violence and I am hoping to find wonderful mentors who will help me in the fight for the libration of so many women who can’t take action because of the many traditional set ups and socio-economical constructs which have hindered the growth of their communities despite all the efforts put in place by the International legal instruments on human rights to better the conditions of women in the world.
