Changemaking Resource Map

My resource map to achieving my goals starts with my family. That's really where I get the support I need to keep going. My family allows me to dream and supports me emotionally, even financially, to work towards my goals. They believed in me during my earliest stage of creating Jimbere Fund, a nonprofit organization focused on identifying and implementing individualized high-impact social interventions in Congo's most remote areas. Communities identify their most pressing needs in women’s empowerment, education, and health, and we work them to find solutions and co-implement them.

The second resourceful aspect I possess is that I come from the area of our work and I speak five languages (English, French, Swahili, Kirundi, and Kinyarwanda), four of which are spoken locally. This is important because the local population we serve is adiverse community with a dozen different languages and dialects. This allows me to communicate and collaborate with people from various communities and help in achieving my goals.

The third resource for us stems rather from a challenge. Material assets are always a challenge but I am grateful to have co-founded Jimbere with my amazing sister Sandra, who is soon to be a published author through a HarperCollins, a big publishing house. We hope to create a network of supporters through her book tour this may and onward. Digital assets are huge as well: without the internet, I feel isolated and locked away from opportunities. Therefore, so our efficacy in the digital world makes us feel like wehave the world in our hands.
