Empowerment of widows of Soldiers in Nigeria

When a Soldiers dies the ultimate price is been paid by the wife and children. Quite unfortunate in Nigeria when a soldier dies the widow and the children is forgotten immediately.

There are an estimated 258 million widows around the world, and nearly one in ten live in extreme poverty. As women, they have specific needs, but their voices and experiences are often absent from policies that impact their survival.

In celebration of International Widows' day, a two weeks empowerment programme was organized for widows of military personnel in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

They were trained on how to make Kampala and make a living for themselves and children.
