My Journey:Brushing Against World Pulse

When I came to Hong Kong, my only thought was to work hard to help my sisters in their nursing education. It never occurred to be that God would lead me onto a path of meeting people of different races and nationalities, hearing, feeling the pains of their hearts and seeing the depths of their souls. Perhaps this sounds dramatic, but I was 24, and I was lonely and, feeling my own loneliness, could relate to theirs.

When I first start to write it was for a Catholic newspaper, the Sunday Examiner. I remember my first story was about a Filipino domestic worker that was neglected by her father. I received praise from people who told me how it touched their hearts and then I started to write stories about cancer patients and cancer survivors; how they overcome the daily hell they live in and how hard they struggle as they still work every day with their employers while undergoing their medication.

It was at that time that it was suggested to me that I contribute my poems to the Asian Human Rights Commission for their weekly E-newsletter, Human Rights & Culture.

Once again, I know this sounds dramatic but, I have seen the hardships of life, the hell of poverty, the cries of the street children, the pleas of the elderly, the hardships of women that were abused and a lot more. I do not know why God gave me this talent and the gift to voice these things out through my poetry.

I continue to write for the Asian Human Rights Commission and have now been asked to contribute to other newspapers too. Sometimes I write articles for them when I have my day off. Every time I have my day off, the people I've seen on the street, the women crying in the trains and the Mass Transit Railway (in Hong Kong it is called the MTR), the stories of hardships that they tell me inspire me to write more.

Then one day, the Women's UN Report Network published one of my poems. Then many offers came and it inspired me to write more and to write on issues that deal with violence against women. It was through WUNRN that I came to know about World Pulse. And i am glad to meet new friends with amazing stories that inspires me to do my best and learn more.Women who touches many souls and courageous to join voices of our future.Women in different parts of the world with the common concerns as mine,to be the voice of the unheared

I am now being asked to write for several websites. I consider this a great honour as I am being allowed to contribute to causes that I believe in deeply. To eradicate the abuse of women and children, to eradicate poverty and to awaken the hearts and minds of people who would rather turn a blind eye to the horrors that go on around them
