Do Boys ever stop?

I spoke to a 16 year old the other day (the daughter of one of my colleagues). She said she spent too much time on internet Q&A sites.

So I tried to support them (without knowing much about them) and said things like "But don't they answer your questions on life, love, and the world?".

"Sometimes", she said, "but boys always ruin it by making stupid comments".

Apparently on all the sites, boys run down anything in the least bit feminist ( or "girl power" as she put it), not by arguing or making comments that she and other girls can answer, but by using swear words and being REALLY offensive about the girls.

Now I'm not an elderly maiden aunt who's never left her home town, but a 27 year old who's been through uni, got drunk more than once, seen strippers, used some of the words she pointed out, and watched "A Clockwork Orange".

BUT I have to say that I was appalled!

Very rarely do girls pick up on the boys comments and bother playing along ("life's too short", said the 16 year old!!), they just allow the boys to accuse them of - well of being sl-ts to name one LESS disgusting comment.

But, seriously, these "boys" (who knows if they're really 60 year olds who get off verbally abusing teenage girls), they use words like v-gina and p-ssy like they're being paid to.

So my point is - in Western ("Christian") countries, has the sexism, misogyny, and chauvinism of boys and men merely gone underground? Because (in theory) they can't discriminate against us by shouting abuse in person or telling jokes about our breasts, are they doing far worse but incognito, hidden behind pen-names on a website?

Is there, anywhere, an end to males treating females like objects which exist to be abused?
