You're not alone

Amra
Posted December 3, 2019 from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Breathe in the ray of sunshine Let the wind play with your hair Inhale the salty scent of the sea The blueness of the sky Feel the warm of the soil And raise your hands Be a voice Be a breath of hope

Her eyes are  the color of sadness

The soul is chained with scars

Body broken, withered

Her heart in a flame of pain

And she wonders

Do they  feel my pain?

Where's the key to the shackles?

Feel it sweetheart

They hear you, honey

In us, in you..there is power

Dive into yourself, you will find the key

Lift your head, straighten your body,

Tear the shackle

Fill your eyes with rainbow colors

And let the heart blaze with the miracle of life

Miracle of woman

No, You're not alone

This is my first attempt at writing a poem. There was so much emotions in me while writing this..so many words untold.  I know how it feels to be a victim.i know the victim can fall into the dark depths but i know she can stand up too. With a smile on her face. hold on to your strength.

With love

Amra

Amra, Thank you for sharing your first poem on World Pulse. It is beautiful and I think embodies the strength of so many survivors. Many of our World Pulse sisters have shared their poetry and found it to a gateway for connecting community. In fact one of our longtime World Pulse member Olutosin first shared her poetry on World Pulse! You can hear her story in the short World Pulse film that can be viewed on our home page. Look forward to the possibility of reading more of your poetry in future! Thank you for your bravery in sharing your poem.

Hello Amra. Your first peom sounds like your 100th peom. It is a great poem full of imagery and figures of speech. Congratulations. I am a poet myself and one great poet Wordsworth says that "Poetry is the spontenous overflow of powerful emotions recollectec in tranquility". I however disagree with the last word

Yes dear Amara. Write on as long as the emotions flow, write until your fingertips hurt. You're a great budding peot. Immortalise yourself in poetry. Poetry says in a few lines what a novel may not say in a singke chapter. Lots of love.
