Adam and Eve make one, human

Adam and Eve make one, human

My trek to Himalaya was really fruitful. I am not talking about my achievements as a trekker; I am an amateur one with limited capacity. Himalaya changed my vision. I was looking through the glass molded by the society. I have never doubted neither understood the fact that whatever I am seeing is seeing with a preconditioned mind. While I was trying to absorb the immense beauty of Himalaya a miracle happened. The glass I was wearing broken in to pieces. And each broken piece gave me freedom from the preconditioned and biased vision I inherited from the society. It’s fantastic.

I never liked the concept of gender discrimination but neither doubted the omnipresent concept of gender. It was natural for me to see the humankind in two different bodies, men and women. Does nature really believe in gender division in every sphere? Does nature behave differently with its creation on the basis of their gender? I do not think so. Nature has created everything with care. Nothing lacks symmetry. Everything is so calculated and well designed. The motto behind every creation is same; Creation, progression, stability and sustainability. For example a female tree carries its natural duties but never stands differently from other male trees. Sexualizing personality is our specialization, not that of the nature. From the very moment of birth we start to treat a boy child and a girl child in a different way. In the lap of Mother Nature everything a bug or a tree stands with its full glory and personality. But when we look at ourselves, god forbid me, I only see discrimination, division of labours and wages, inequality and repressions. Caste system is bad but gender discrimination is worst of the worst. Even in recent past women of different countries were not allowed casting their votes. Still toady in India people prefer boy child over a girl child. They have varied opinions in favour of boy child as it is more capable to look after the parents; it carries the linage of the family etc. Society treats women as the burden but women are actually carrying all the burden of social discrimination and biases at every sphere of their lives.
From my early childhood I got so many people around me, especially women, to remind me of the fact that it is not good for girls to ask too many questions. The accepted norm of our society is that girls are born to be treated unequally; so it is thought to be judicious for a girl to accept that very fact as early as possible and should try to feel comfortable with all those inequalities. My parents were always liberal but most of my friends had suffered gender inequality at their homes
I often ask myself since when and how women around the world lost their value as human being? Society has always treated us specially and repressively. If we can give birth and nurture a life, cannot we decide what is right and wrong for us? If we can handle several issues at a time why cannot we make better managers? If we have better managerial skill then why cannot we demand equal salary like men? If we do the same job at factories, construction sites and small industries why will we be paid less wages? Still why a large number of girls cannot choose their life partner? Women are still fighting for equal wages and equal salaries around the world. Society loves to treat us as its property but in reality we are adorable creatures of nature. We are born free with same human dignity and importance as do the men. Ask Mother Nature who is her favourite between Adam and Eve? We all know the answer; no one. Adam and Eve together make one, homo sapience.
