LEAP Africa is currently seeking applications for the Social Innovators Programme (SIP) Fellowship to enable youth social entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Social Innovators Programme is the platform for equipping, empowering and showcasing young changemakers with requisite skills and effective tools for building sustainable enterprises.

With the support of Union Bank Nigeria and other corporate sponsors, have enabled these young changemakers transition their social change ideas into scalable social enterprises.

LEAP Africa has partnered with Union Bank Nigeria, other corporate sponsors and development champions, to enable these young change makers transition their social change solutions into scalable social enterprises.

Through a careful selection process, 40 highly motivated and young social innovators are chosen across a pool of applicants, to participate in activities outlined for the fellowship year.

Utilize This Offer

LEAP Africa is seeking applications from budding social entrepreneurs who would be available and willing to participate in the various activities outlined for the fellowship year. The 2021/2022 fellowship cycle begins in November 2021 and ends November 2022.

An ideal SIP fellow should fit the profile outlined below:
1. Young man or woman between 18 and 35 years, whose ideas and initiatives offer effective solutions to challenges in local communities across their respective region.
2. The social ventures of the Fellows may cover various aspects of the society, such as Agriculture, Youth Empowerment, Education, Science & Technology, Health, Law, Human Rights, among others;
3. Applicants must:
a) be Initiators / Co-founders of a socially focused venture / enterprise and Foundation, located and registered English speaking parts of Africa;
b) have been involved in operating their ventures / enterprise beyond 12 months prior to the time of this application;
c) be available to participate in the Fellowship activities including implementation of appropriate systems to sustain their innovation over the course of the fellowship year;
d) not be enrolled on more than one fellowship programme prior to the time of application.

Fellows are empowered through a series of training sessions (physical and online), mentorship, access to local & international funding and partnership opportunities, and importantly the opportunity to be a part of a global network of social change agents.

These activities culminate into an award ceremony where outstanding Fellows are rewarded with a financial sustainability prize award and their work promoted on media platforms.

All applicants must fill the application form and submit it before 11:59 pm (WAT), Friday, 6th of August, 2021.

Friendly reminders:
1. Find and analyze open and closed calls that interest you. Try to discover:
• what they have in common, and
• how you can think ahead / plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Gather or update paperwork (certificates, attests, statements, resumes, etc.) and information usually required by calls such this one;
3. Write - baby steps... - and discuss a project draft, to validate within your group the priorities of the proposal(s) and to train your grant writing skills as well;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal / project. Start NOW!
5. Do visit regularly the World Pulse website to make customized searches for grant opportunities. How?
a) Click on the Menu (left upper corner);
b) Type the name of your country in the search area (blank space); click enter;
c) Click on Filters;
d) Click on Resource;
e) Browse the results (opportunities) that will show up, by chronological order of posting;
6. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... They will enlighten and inspire your network;
7. Share the opportunities that do not apply to you but can interest others;
