The Youth in Development Boot Camp and Fellowship provide civic leaders with skills and tools to start and effectively lead social change initiatives.

Most of the Alumni of this program have gone ahead to create viable and highly impactful social ventures that are transforming the social-economic landscapes of their communities.

The IMPACT Toolbox is proudly supported by Rustandy Center for Social Innovation at the Chicago Booth Business School, Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago, and Appalachian State University, Booth North Carolina, U.S.A.

Sozo Networks and the IMPACT Toolbox is happy to host outstanding young Africans in this unique professional development experience.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Demonstrated interest in civic leadership and career in the social sector;
2. Have an idea or initiative for social change;
3. Be between the ages of 18-30 on or before the application deadline;
4. Be a citizen of an African country and must reside and work on the continent;
5. Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English;
6. Be available to complete all the weekly activities included in the six months duration of the fellowship;
7. Submit your application on or before December 8, 2021.

Benefits:
a) Fellows would attend a 3-day boot camp.
b) During this transformative learning experience, participants will hone their leadership skills and acquire knowledge on leading sustainable social change.
c) These young leaders would have the unique opportunity to learn directly from social change leaders with exceptional track records and academics from across the world.
d) Participants would become a part of the Impact Toolbox and Sozo Networks’ formidable network of social change leaders.
e) At the end of the boot camp, each participant will submit an action plan and a social venture idea proposal that reflects what they have learned.
f) YID Fellows will be selected from this pool and will engage in a 6-month professional development program during which they will enjoy the following through the Impact Toolbox:
> Free access to over nine online courses that cover every part of social venture creation and management;
> Opportunity to pitch for prototype funding;
> Exclusive mentorship and one-on-one strategy sessions;
> Connection to peer collaborators from other parts of the world;
> Exclusive networking opportunities.

Friendly reminders:
1. Find and analyze open and closed grants opportunities that interest you. Try to discover:
• what they have in common, and
• how you can think ahead / plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Gather or update paperwork (certificates, attests, statements, resumes, letters of recommendation, etc.) and information usually required by calls such this one.
3. Write - baby steps... - and discuss a project draft, to validate within your group the priorities of the proposal(s) and to train your grant writing skills as well.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal / project. Start NOW!
5. Do visit regularly the World Pulse website to make customized searches for grant opportunities. How?
a) Click on the Menu (left upper corner);
b) Type the name of your country in the search area (blank space); click enter;
c) Click on Filters;
d) Click on Resource;
e) Browse the results (opportunities) that will show up, by chronological order of posting.
6. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... They will enlighten and inspire your network.
7. Share the opportunities that do not apply to you but can interest others.
