Call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) in Kenya

The CFLI:
a) is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas
b) is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners.
c) also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavors
d) will grant applications in the areas that address identified needs of local communities that fall within one or more of the 2019-2020 CFLI priorities for Kenya.:
1. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls to build on existing efforts and address ongoing challenges.
2. Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, with a specific focus on the rights of refugees and the LGBTI community.
3. Environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management specifically

Proposals must be submitted electronically by email. Hard-copy applications or any applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply;
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
