The CFLI:
a) is a program designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement
b) is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners
c) also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies.

All projects must align with at least one of the following CFLI thematic priorities:
1. gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls
2. inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law
3. environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management.

CFLI funding is to be directed toward local civil society organizations (including NGOs) and other institutions working at the local level.

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Only the successful candidates will be contacted.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply;
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!

6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others.
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests - tell these stories too. They will enlighten and inspire the sisterhood.
