The overall aim of the COALESCE Research Fund 2019 is:
1. to cultivate new knowledge, evidence, collaborations and links that enhance the role and impact of Ireland’s research community in contributing to the achievement of national challenges and wider global goals.
2. to leverage the quality of Ireland’s research base to address societal challenges.

Strand 1 seeks to harness the resources and expertise of the Irish research system to support the successful achievement of Ireland’s 10 national goals as set out in Project Ireland 2040
Strand 2 has been designed to support the development of interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration/capacity in the context of global or international challenges.

Applications shall be submitted:
a) by a Principal Investigator (PI) who holds a contract of sufficient duration with an eligible HEI or RPO to carry out the proposed research from the project start date until project end date
b) with a mandatory and named Co-PI.

Utilize This Offer

Funding limit per project Max €100,000 (including overheads at 25%).
The funded project must start in Q1 2020 and be completed in 15 months.

The outputs should be practical in nature with a view to informing practice and policy.

1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply;
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
