The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) has launched a call for proposals Projects & Businesses with Climate Adaptation Benefits for Development & Investment Support in the Pacific Islands and Asia.

As clean energy technologies improve and their costs continue to fall, people are becoming increasingly aware of the fact that it is possible to develop commercially viable projects that contribute to climate change mitigation.

The following sectors have been identified and targeted in the area of Climate Change Adaptation:
- Agriculture (upstream and downstream, including agribusiness and processing)
- Ecosystem Services
- Forestry
- Urban Development; Health
- Energy & Access to Energy
- Water
- Waste
- Microfinance/Insurance
- Tourism
- Adaptation products and services.

PFAN particularly encourages applications from women-led businesses.
Selected projects will receive free business coaching and investor matchmaking services.

Eastern Africa - deadline: 1 Sep

Proposals should: 1) demonstrate that the project is commercially and technically viable, and requires no or only minimal grant funding; 2) provide climate change adaptation benefits, or offer or use clean energy technologies, products or services.

1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply;
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
