The creation of the Ginetta Sagan Fund emphasizes that more human rights work must be done by and for women.

Nominations are open for the Ginetta Sagan Award 2019 to recognize and assist women who are working to protect the liberty and lives of women and children in areas where human rights violations are widespread.

The $20,000 award:
a) recognizes individual accomplishment, but also serves as a beacon of hope to women everywhere who are fighting for human rights
b) is intended to help women throughout the world in their struggle to overcome oppression, to let them know that they are not alone
c) can be used by the awardee at her complete discretion. The money is awarded to the individual, not the organization.

Awardee profile:
1. Founder and/or Executive Director of an organization
2. Under threat for her activism
3. Proven effective at addressing human rights issues
4. Has brought about significant change in her country, region, or issue through her work.

Utilize This Offer

The Ginetta Sagan Fund also seeks to support the awardee with training to assist in her ongoing work.

Political party leaders or government officials / employees are not eligible.

Nominations for 2019 awardees are due September 2, 2019.

1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply;
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills.
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
