Mary’s Pence Fund:
a) was founded by women to support women on the margins at a time when women-led social justice projects were overlooked and under-funded;
b) funds women’s organizations in the US and Canada that are working with their local community to create long-term systemic change;
x) collaborates with diverse populations, advocate to change unjust policies, and educate to build skills and increase capacity.

Their grants act as seed money for organizations that are newly created, and as support for organizations that have been working on the grassroots level for years.

In addition to providing financial support, Mary’s Pence connects their grantees with other like-minded organizations and helpful resources.

Eligibility requirements:
1) Applicant organizations must have a budget of under $200,000;
2) Only organizations working in the U.S. and Canada;
3) Projects must focus on change at the systems or community level;
4) Annual awards are a maximum of US$5,000.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!

6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests; yes, tell these storiies too... - they will enlighten and inspire your network.
