Wellcome Trust Foundation´s Research Fellowships for Health Professionals offer practising health professionals the opportunity to carry out humanities or social science research, in any area of health.

A Research Award is for up to 3 years (applicants can hold it part-time over a longer period).

An award will not usually be above £400,000.
Support includes:
a) a basic salary (determined by their host organisation);
b) personal removal expenses;
c) research expenses.

Eligibility:
1) Applicants must:
a) be a practising health professional with some research experience;
b) have a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent research experience;
c) also have an offer of a place on a PhD (or Post-Doctoral) programme at an eligible host organisation in the UK, Republic of Ireland or a low- or middle-income country (LMIC).
2) The research applicant proposal should aim to improve understanding of health and disease using humanities or social science methods;

You should give careful thought to your choice of sponsor and supervisor(s) or research mentor(s). They should have strong track records in research and mentorship.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
5. Visit the World Pulse website >>> My Pulse >>> Resources and then use its filters (right upper corner) to find what may really suit you;
6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests; yes, tell these storiies too... - they will enlighten and inspire your network.
