British Embassy in Guatemala City: Call for Proposals 2020/2021 in Guatemala and Honduras

This year, the British Embassy is seeking to support projects and activities up to $15,000 in Guatemala and Honduras that deliver real, measurable outcomes in support of development in both countries.

All expenditures must qualify as Official Development Assistance (ODA) and have the promotion of economic development and welfare of the people of Guatemala and/or Honduras as the main objective.

The Embassy is particularly interested in projects/activities proposals focused on the following thematic areas of work:
a) Climate change;
b) Human rights & democracy;
c) Economic growth and improving business environment;
d) Illegal wildlife trade;
e) Disaster risk preparedness;
f) Beyond plastics.

Project budget limits: minimum equivalent to 8,000 / maximum equivalent to 15,000 USD.

Projects are funded under a reimbursement scheme for a single financial year running from 1 April 2020 to 28 February 2021, with no expectations of continued funding beyond this period.

Grants are awarded to international organisations, local NGOs or other organisations that have a proven track-record of implementation and delivery of projects in Honduras and/or Guatemala

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal/project. Start now!!!

6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... - they will enlighten and inspire your network.
