The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada (WICC) is inviting applications for Awakening Grant to support Canadian projects to help Indigenous women in Canada.

Focus areas:
a) Addressing gender-based violence
b) Economic justice, health
c) Cultural education
d) Child welfare
e) Advocacy
f) Anti-racism
g) Peace.

Eligibility criteria:
1. An organization in Canada supporting Indigenous women and children.
2. A valid registered charity number from the Canada Revenue Agency.
3. A project to benefit an Indigenous community in Canada.

This grant is funded by sales of the limited edition prints of “Awakening,” a painting by Canadian artist David Alexander Risk. They thank him for donating this painting to WICC, and their board for its vision to use this gift to benefit Indigenous women in Canada.

Utilize This Offer

Awakening grants range between CDN$500 and CDN$2000, depending on availability of funds.

Your Awakening grant application form must be submitted by March 31 each year.

WICC will notify successful applicants by July 10 of the year they applied.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal/project. Start now!!!
5. Visit the World Pulse website >>> My Pulse >>> Resources and then use its filters (right upper corner) to find what may really suit you;
6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... - they will enlighten and inspire your network.
