Gered Gereedschap is a Dutch NGO which has been making a consistent effort for craftsmen and women in developing countries for the last 37 years.

Projects supported by Gered Gereedschap strengthen technical vocational education and entrepreneurship in Africa.

Our support is practical, tangible and comprehensive.

From tool sets and machines for schools, fully equipped sewing workshops to the education of technical vocational teachers.

All our support is directed towards one purpose: promoting technical craftsmanship as a basis for self-reliance.

Gered Gereedschap preferably supports vocational training programmes and projects that satisfy demand for the local (labour) market.

Schools and projects that promote entrepreneurship and offer further support to young people after their training are greatly appreciated.

In addition, Gered Gereedschap actively approaches (international) organisations for cooperation.

Utilize This Offer

We invite organisations in Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Ghana that promote vocational education and entrepreneurship and will benefit from our help to submit an application.

Preference is also given to gender-orientated projects, projects aimed at marginalised groups, cooperatives, ecological awareness and environment protection.

Gered Gereedschap:
1. only supports projects in which the target group itself takes the initiative and remains active in the preparation, decision-making and implementation of the project;
2. offers free transport of the materials to the nearest international port if the support consists of tools, machines or workshops. For landlocked countries overland transport to a capital can be arranged as well;
3. does NOT offer nor mediates in insurance, clearance, storage and / or local transport costs. Costs of customs clearance and transport to the final destination are the responsibility of the applicant organisation;
4. never provides financial support, agricultural equipment or household appliances.

Our support consists of:
• Tools and machines;
• Accommodation and equipment;
• Knowledge and guidance.

A request for support provided by Gered Gereedschap starts with submitting an application form.

The application must be submitted before the end of September each year.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you in order to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal/project. Start now!!!
5. Visit the World Pulse website >>> My Pulse >>> Resources and then use its filters (right upper corner) to find what may really suit you;
6. Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too! They will enlighten and inspire your network.
