The U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania, announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications for the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program.

The Democracy Commission Small Grants Program, administered by the Public Affairs Section, is soliciting proposals from non-governmental organizations in Albania that focus on the following priority areas:
• Anti-corruption;
• Good Governance;
• Investigative Journalism;
• Human Rights/Minority Rights;
• Empowerment of Women and Youth;
• Combatting Human Trafficking;
• Reforms.

Utilize This Offer

Only Albanian not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply.

In order to be eligible to receive an award, all organizations must have a unique entity identifier (Data Universal Numbering System/DUNS number from Dun & Bradstreet), as well as a valid registration on

Length of performance period: six to twelve months.

Award amounts: up to USD$24,000.

Closing Date for Applications: March 04, 2021.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you, in order to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required by calls such this one);
3. Write - baby steps... - and discuss a project draft, to validate within your group the priorities of the proposal(s) and to train your grant writing skills as well;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal / project. Start now!!!
5. Do visit regularly the World Pulse website to make customized searches for grant opportunities. How?
a) Click on the Menu (left upper corner);
b) Type the name of your country in the search area (blank space); click enter;
c) Click on Filters;
d) Click on Resource;
e) Browse the results (opportunities) that will show up, by chronological order of posting;
6. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... They will enlighten and inspire your network;
