AFRIKA KOMMT! is a fellowship programme that connects visionary African professionals and leading German companies. Together they pave the way for global inclusive business and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Companies benefit from the expertise, knowledge, local network and unique African perspective of the young professionals. The African fellows dive deep into the German corporate specifics, German business spirit and the German culture.

The programme provides an unparalleled opportunity to young, talented African professionals for a one year career and life transformational experience.

What does the programme entail?
At the core of the AFRIKA KOMMT! programme is a one-year stay for the African professionals in Germany. During this time, the fellows actively work in their partner companies where they are trained and mentored.
Other components organized by GIZ such as language courses, trainings and networking events supplement the learning experience.

As a participant of AFRIKA KOMMT! you will:
• Refine your leadership and management competency;
• Access networks & opportunities for career acceleration;
• Improve your intercultural competence;
• Broaden your perspective and stir up innovation;
• Achieve personal growth.

Candidates must meet the following formal application criteria:
1. Citizenship of an African state;
2. University degree in a relevant subject;
3. Two to five years of relevant work experience;
4. Excellent knowledge of English;
5. Not older than 35 years.

Postgraduate studies (e.g. MBA) are an advantage.

Basic knowledge of German is an advantage.

The AFRIKA KOMMT! programme is entirely financed by the participating companies. As a fellow, all costs related to your participation in the fellowship programme will be covered (flights, accommodation, monthly stipend, trainings, language course).

Application deadline: 2 April 2021.

We will inform you 8-12 weeks after the end of the application deadline if you have been invited to the assessment centre.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you, in order to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required by calls such this one);
3. Write - baby steps... - and discuss a project draft, to validate within your group the priorities of the proposal(s) and to train your grant writing skills as well;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal / project. Start now!!!
5. Do visit regularly the World Pulse website to make customized searches for grant opportunities. How?
a) Click on the Menu (left upper corner);
b) Type the name of your country in the search area (blank space); click enter;
c) Click on Filters;
d) Click on Resource;
e) Browse the results (opportunities) that will show up, by chronological order of posting;
6. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... They will enlighten and inspire your network;
7. Share the opportunities that do not apply to you but can interest others;
