The Active Citizens Fund has launched a Call for Proposals to promote, protect and respect gender equality, as well as, combatting gender-based violence.

Gender equality implies that the interests, needs and priorities of both women and men are taken into consideration, thereby recognizing the diversity of different groups of women and men.

Equality between women and men is seen both as a human rights issue and as a precondition for, and indicator of, sustainable people-centred development.

More specifically, the projects that will be selected will aim at
• strengthening advocacy and raising awareness on gender equality issues;
• monitoring violations related to gender equality and supporting gender-based violence victims;
• educating citizens, organisations and civil servants on issues related to gender equality and gender-based violence and
• strengthening collaboration of CSOs with Media in order to promote issues related to gender equality and gender-based violence.
