The GirlEng Technovation Camp is currently open for 60 high potential Grade 9- 11 high school girls interested in pursuing a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The camp is a 4-day active learning workshop that aims to get girls to start thinking & acting like engineers.

The GirlEng Technovation Camp provides insights from female engineering students and professionals, learn the basics of coding, participate in robotics workshops, and learn about other future technologies.

Utilize This Offer

1. Be a Grade 9 – 11 high school girl, currently studying mathematics (compulsory) and science (recommended).
2. Show a high interest in pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) career.
3. Must be residing in Johannesburg or surrounding areas.
4. Available for all four days of the workshop.

In compliance with COVID-19 regulations, the camp will run in two phases each comprising of 30 girls each running in June-July 2020.

Dates are subject to change based on the South Africa school calendar.

Participants are selected through an application process. The application forms are available online.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you, in order to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and attests usually required by calls such this one);
3. Write - baby steps... - and discuss a project draft, to validate within your group the priorities of the proposal(s) and to train your grant writing skills as well;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your proposal / project. Start now!!!
5. Do visit regularly the World Pulse website to make customized searches for grant opportunities. How?
a) Click on the Menu (left upper corner);
b) Type the name of your country in the search area (blank space); click enter;
c) Click on Filters;
d) Click on Resource;
e) Browse the results (opportunities) that will show up, by chronological order of posting;
6. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests. Yes, tell these stories too... They will enlighten and inspire your network;
7. Share the opportunities that do not apply to you but can interest others;
