Nahapet Quchak is an Armenian poet, troubadour musician of medieval century. His poems, which are called “Hayrenner” were written at the beginning of 16-th century in Grabar (old Armenian). I tried to translate Some “hayrenner” into English in order to let you know about this talented Armenian poet. Though the translation is made in amateur style, I hope, it will let you know somehow the nature of this marvelous medieval poems and songs. Enjoy :)

I am an eye and you are a light, my soul, Eyes become dark without a light. I am a fish and you are water, my soul, A fish is dead without water. When a fish is taken out from water To live in other water space, Like when I will be separated from you, Other choice, than to die, will not stay.
