Who will you invite?

I will invite about 25 women from my community including the newly elected Local Councilor 3 women representative at the sub county level. I will also invite the Local Council 1 chairman together with the coordinator of the coffee project in the area.

What is your Goal for the training?

The main goal for the training is to introduce these women to the world pulse community and encourage them to tell their stories so that their voices are heard.

What will participants gain?

These women will have a voice and a platform to air out their grievances. By being heard they will feel empowered and they will know that they have a right to speak out and be heard. Also the participants will hear from each other’s experiences. And also be speaking out about the injustices they will be taking action against the violence that takes place in their communities.

What will the community outcome be?

There will be togetherness because they will know how their experiences are similar so find a unifying solution for their challenges.

What parts of the trainer’s toolkit will you use? How will you adapt the training to your own language, culture, and local needs?

I will use the 5 hour training with short breaks in between. This is because most of the women in my community never went to school so we have to make sure that they all understand the goal of the training and are able to benefit from it. I will have to translate the training materials into the local language so that they follow.

What resources will you need to conduct this training?

In our community we have chairs and a table that we shall use when I meet with the women. Meetings normally take place at peoples homesteads. The school hall which we would have hired is quite far from where the women stay and so I will not be able to afford transporting them there and back.

I will take pictures on my phone and I have a small camcorder which I will use to record the sessions as well as the women’s stories. I will also use one of the gentlemen in the community to help me interpret into the local language so that the women can understand and contribute freely.

Do you have those resources? If not, how can you get them?

I will use the above resources to ensure that the training is successful.

Any safety concerns? How will you address these concerns?

I will inform the women in my community that their stories and whatever is discussed in the training will be held in confidentiality and we shall have a confidentially agreement which we will all agree to.

Also considering that there is no power in this community we shall make sure that the training ends before 5pm so that many of these women can walk back home safely and in large numbers.

Wow Anita!

You had such great estimation of my training plan and you have also done a great job planning your training event. I love that you plan to target women leaders in your community. They need to connect with such beneficial platforms like World Pulse where they can also share their stories and experiences and let us into their world to provide our support and encourage their work too.

Well done on a great training plan and best wishes for a successful event.

Warm regards,

Hello Anita,

Your training plan is very pleasing to the eye, making it easier for others to read and process it. I like how you divided the itinerary into a table-like visual, and how the time frames listed are suitable for each session. I'm also glad you touched upon the safety concerns, alongside the main points of the plan. I look forward to hearing more about your work in the future.

With warm wishes,

Helen Ng
