Uneducated women's life is better than educated women- said my friend

Today my best friend said me " Uneducated women's life is better than educated women''. I said why. Then he replied ''Educated women always become busy, overload in house, office and other network''. Then, I raised great voice and scolded him ''No, no, you are completely wrong, because uneducated women must face violence within family, husband, neighbours and other people, everyday she she everyday faces violence from every body and she is like slave, and her work is never be valued.'' After hearing my aggressive voice, he went out. Now, ;laying in the bed I remember his voice, what actually his saying is good or not . Then I again remember, it is okey for me. Although, I have high work load, but at least nobody could violate me. But uneducated women could not protect her own body from her husband and other men living surroundings.  Everybody do depressed them, violate them. Finally, I commit '' Although, I have high work load but at least nobody pointed out me, everybody respect me. Therefore, women should be educated for self dependent and self knowledgeable''

Hi Anita,

I agree with what you're saying about independence and fulfillment, but I also think that saying that a woman is overloaded because she has to handle everything such as all the housework, children, and a job isn't very empowering, either. Is that what he was implying? These are shared responsibilities and shouldn't be the sole responsibility of one partner, and neither should providing for the household, either, unless it works for that couple. What do you think?

Hello Anita,
Thank you for sharing this story and your thoughts!
I agree that education gives us more options, and with those options more opportunities to be safe, independent and in control of the decisions about our lives. It is interesting when someone challenges us like your friend did. It sounds like maybe he hasn't considered the difficulties that uneducated women face - maybe now he will have a new perspective!
Warm regards,
Hannah

Dear Anita,
Congratulations on standing up to this man who wants to keep women uneducated (and so without power or options for her life). Men have been taught to hold onto this dominant position despite it being so unfair. You have made him realize that woman have the right and this assumption needs to end. Bravo!

Hello, dear Anita,

I agree that education is important for a woman. It is, after all, our basic right to be educated. I admire you for speaking up to your friend. Thank you for sharing this story with us.
