Together we can curb Teenage pregnancies

I am Annastanzia aka Asya the founder of TEEN Pregnancy Awareness in Kenya (www.teenpregnancyawareness.co.ke). TPA was started in Kangemi slums in Nairobi with the aim of reducing or eradicating teen pregnancy, issues surrounding the same and as much the affected teens to give them hope for a better future. A research around the Country showcased a rise of teen pregnancy recently and we decided to counter the same from the most affected areas which are the slums before we get to the all Country.

TPA reaches out to more than 1500 teenagers yearly as it seeks to empower the teenagers through mentorships, guidance and counseling and to see girls attend school with little or no disturbances brought forth by normal body functions through provision of sanitary towels and mentorship.

We are striving to develop meaningful partnerships to enhance a sustained capacity to collect; purchase and distribute sanitary towels to young needy girls in informal settlements, primary and high schools and children homes, whilst equipping them with life skills that prepare them to participate in life processes with dignity and respect.

Our main goal is to bring together all the stakeholders: teens, parents, clergy, educators, employers and policy makers as well as health and social service providers to ensure the community is an environment where teens can make healthy decisions willingly and advocate nationwide and mobilize communities to prevent teen pregnancy, to increase opportunities for youths and empower the young people to make healthy decisions about relationships, sex and life.

I am personally passionate about girl child but again last year we realized by just sticking to empowering girl child is also a threat to a boy child thus the recent cases of violence and murders in relationships and marriages and we came up with a programme where both the boy child and girl child will benefit.

We believe #ChangeIsPossible

Dear Anna,
We welcome you to world pulse and congrats on your first post. This is an amazing project you have under taken. Teen pregnancy is one of the serious problem in our education sectors especially in Africa.

It's closes all doors for the girl child and needs to be addressed. I look forward to hear more about how your organization is doing. Thanks for sharing
Kind regards

Hello, Anna,

Welcome to World Pulse! Yes, you are changing the world by mentoring more than 1,500 teenagers. That's already a huge impact in the community. We are so happy that another voice from Kenya is rising up. Thank you for sharing your mission. Please continue to update with your stories.

Do you have a social media page?

By the way, please do explore the Resources Page from time to time for possible grant/funding opportunities and more.

Hope you have a great day!

Dear Karen,
How are you?
Thank you, we have a bigger number who need our services but we cannot manage with the little resources for now.
Yes we do have social media pages facebook is https://www.facebook.com/tpawarenesske/ , twitter and instagram is tpawarenesske.
I'll keep up checking and since I am learning how the page works, I'll read through and explore.
Regards and a lovely day to you.

Hello, dear,

I'm doing great. :)
I understand. Resources are really a challenge even when I worked in the development sector. There's so much to do, but so challenging to look for financial partners to fund the projects.

I already followed you on Facebook (although I'm not active on social media nowadays). Yes, please do. Ana keeps on posting opportunities there. :)

Hoping for the best for you. Please continue to update us here. ;)

Dear Anna,
Thank you for sharing and yes it's so true that engaging and making inclusiveness of boys and men in the activity is very important. If they participate, they will be aware and it will lessen the problems. Good work. I wish you a very best for achieving the goal of your organization.
best regards,
anjana
