A concern to my small sisters health

Happy new year family,

Have you ever pictured yourself helping a needy person only to destroy their lives? This is what is happening in my country Kenya.

First of all last year they were selling the sanitary towels meant to be given to all school going girls for FREE since it's budget was allocated in the nation's  budget and guess what happened today? Not even close to what you are thinking maybe they've added the tax on the menstrual products NO, they are repackaging expired sanitary towels probably to distribute them for free to the girls or sell the same products.... Imagine buying expired sanitary towel? What will happen to you or the person you are helping? Imagine the young girls who are going to use the products what will happen to the reproductive system? what about their health? their future?

Hello, Annastanzia,

That is truly concerning. Is there another government institution that can help?

Thank you for sharing!

Hi Karen,
How are you?
Sadly this might even be worse because they might still proceed with the plans and repackage the products and sell them....

All is well, dear. Thank you for asking. :)

Yes, it is truly sad. I hope there will be intervention that will halt this craziness. Please update us.

Hi Anna,
How are you? Hope you are doing very well? I think I have to understand you well. Please what do you mean by expired pads? Are these pads reusable or disposal?
Wow! These is very sensitive.

Hi Lisbeth
I am doing well thank you and how are you?
Not reusable but disposal pads which have expired
They were meant to be given for FREE to school going girls but our government kept them somewhere so that they can resell them instead of giving them out for as they should and then boom they expired.
My heart bleeds for this country

How mine! See how greed affects a whole nation. I am fine thanks. Wow, this is worrying!
So are they exposed? They must be...

How frustrating that what was to be a long waited solution has been hijacked. What I understand from your post is that pads meant to be free are being repackaged for sale, a theft which destroys the chance for girls without money to have access. Like Lizbeth I am unsure of what is meant by expired as also part of this destructive act against an important move forward. Hopefully those messing with this will be stopped.

Hi Tamarack,
How are you?
You are right the pads were meant to be given for free to the school going girls but out of greedy they didn't and wanted to resell them instead.
The sanitary towels are disposable ones and yes they have expired.
My heart bleeds for women in this country.....sigh

Hi Annastanzia,

How are you doing? Oh, dear:-( So, what is your next plan of action? What about teaming up with Seema to arrange for menstrual cups to be distributed instead? They're more environmentally friendly and I don't think there is an expiration date on them. I also think she is already working with a WP sister, or connection in Kenya to distribute these. Or, you could produce re-usable pads, too, that are also more environmentally friendly and more cost-effective, too? This is Seema's link, if you're interested in learning more about it:

If not, I'm sure I could locate some sisters that could help you to make and distribute re-usable, cloth pads instead.

Let me know, and I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Jill,
I am well and how are you? We were opted for the menstrual cups but other schools don't have access to clean water for washing the cups after use.
But I'll check out the link above.
Thank you, in case of any progress on the same you can reach me on my whatsapp +254 724 439115 or my social media pages Annastanzia Kimbio

It happens a lot
But they are still very useful as long they are in the package.
Better to use them than to throw them.
If it was food it was another issue.
Thank you so much for helping the girls
Hugs from Shamu .

Hello dear
We tried it ourself and we had no side effects
Even the ones that were out of date for 2 years.
They told me as long they are in a closed package you can use them till after 3 years expiring date.

Hugs Conny
