IMAGINING EQUALITY

THE JUSTIFIED EQUALITY

From the forest where you cut down;
From the savanna where you sow,
Oh Congolese woman!
Confronted to the multiple challenges;
By your creativeness, you come up to dislodge
the famine;
You were everywhere to look for the bread;
And the family survived by your sweat;
From the mountain where you camp;
From the valley where you draw
Oh Woman from the East!
By your effort, fields have been put in fallow
land;
Markets abounded in harvests;
And the economy stayed by your calculation;
From the hill where you accumulate;
From the plain where you turn over,
Oh Kivu’s woman!
By your courage, you faced evil;
Your boldness defeated nepotism;
And public-spiritedness triumphed;
From the office where you plan;
From the city where you are moving
Oh Woman from Makobola!
By your foolhardiness, you denounced the
single-party system;
Your engagement conquered the dictatorship;
And the democracy emerged;
From the bush where you deliver, in spite of
your pain, Oh Kaniola’s woman!
You withstood aggressions;
And imperialism succumbed;
From the field where you glean;
From the market where you sell out,
Oh Woman from Kasika!
By your worry of equity, you decried
inequalities;
Laws were promulgated;
And trials started;
From the land where you spread out;
From the slot where you educate,
Oh Bukavu’s woman!
By your firm will, you gathered belligerents;
Who come up to communicate;
And the advent of peace was greeted;
There is your justified place Oh Equality!!!
