Being in public places

When ever I’m in public or out somewhere I always get scared because I never know if somebody I don’t like or I don’t know will be mean to me and it is hard sometimes. I am with my friend in public and sometimes I am ok with it but sometimes it gets bad. I wish people could look though my disability and know me. I seem like a nice girl in public but if somebody tries to hurt somebody I know then I will get angry.

Hi Annelise. Thanks for sharing your post. Can you imagine and visualize you are the strongest version of yourself before you go out in public, such as whoever is your strongest role model, Wonder Woman, etc? You can imagine that you are on a mountaintop, beach, wherever you feel strongest, doing a power pose or whatever makes you feel the strongest version of yourself, and then the next you go out, see if it helps. Perhaps then you won't be afraid because you will feel stronger?!

Yes I have done that before and it would help for a little while

In an ideal world, what would be your ideal interaction or outing?

Good question and it would be at a park or somewhere and having a friend with me and not having to be nevus.

Cool:) Can you replicate that scenario and build up confidence that way, or at least enjoy that scenario from time to time?

Hello, Annalise,

Thank you for sharing. I used to fear public places, too. I had anxiety even when my parent's visitors came to our house. I used to lock myself inside our room.

It took a long process for me to overcome those fears. I did not have a physical disability that people would stare, but I was made to think that I was the ugliest, dumbest person ever. And I thought those were how people saw me. So I hated public places.

So I understand that feeling. I know you are someone with a pure heart. I hope one day you will overcome that fear of being in public places. Just believe that among those people you randomly meet, there are those who possess pure hearts like yours.

Cheers!

I don't get to have a lot of friends over sometimes because I don't know a lot of people who actually do want to see me. I rarely get a phone call from a friend and it just makes me sad that many people don't want to see me. I will over come it someday and one time I was at restaurant and I was emberest because somebody made fun of me and I had to go home and I eat a boring dinner.

I am so sorry those kind of incidents happen to you. Some people are just mean. Hugs.
